I cannot think of a worse successful band than Steely Dan. They made one good song and the rest sounded like off-key horsecrap. Whenever one of their pieces comes on the radio, I can’t hit the mute button fast enough.
Couldn't disagree more. Aja was a masterpiece all the way through. Apparently a whole bunch of other people also thought so given the popularity. They just have their own style which you may not like. Either way, you are welcome to your own opinion as am I.
That being said, I wouldn't be surprised to find out there are some subversive activities being done by them, don't know anything about that and would oppose anything like that.
Perhaps they didn’t have a say in their album covers? Perhaps I’m over sensitive to what I see when I look at it. What do you think this album
cover represents?
Read below. If it hadn’t been for this forum to ask me to question everything, I am now questioning the intent of a bunch of naked men sitting in a line of chairs. We talk big time about symbolism. So what is wrong with questioning album covers and their intents and purposes?
I personally love FM. Bit also so many others. Even the B sides. I think they were geniuses in their transitions and ability to rock so many chords. It is this album cover I have a strong opposition too.

I love The Royal Scam also.
LOL, SD is like nails on a chalkboard to my ears.
They do have a great sound :-) I like “yacht rock” 😅🤷♀️. But the albums cover speaks clearly to me now.

They never made a languishing 10 minute song they didn't like.
And I get it Pepe! I personally liked their musical chord transitions that were tight and, I think smooth.
It is just knowing what we know now, the album cover completely grossed me out. Even you, as a great Pede on this forum can see it?
What was the good one?
I run hot and cold with steely Dan. Currently hot.

Off key? Lol, that's the one complaint you can't make about Steely Dan
And you listen to the radio... Which probably play the same 3 or 4 Steely Dan songs 100s of times a month.
Well your experience was worse than mine. But perhaps you are older and had better taste in music than I did then :-)
