I cannot think of a worse successful band than Steely Dan. They made one good song and the rest sounded like off-key horsecrap. Whenever one of their pieces comes on the radio, I can’t hit the mute button fast enough.
Couldn't disagree more. Aja was a masterpiece all the way through. Apparently a whole bunch of other people also thought so given the popularity. They just have their own style which you may not like. Either way, you are welcome to your own opinion as am I.
That being said, I wouldn't be surprised to find out there are some subversive activities being done by them, don't know anything about that and would oppose anything like that.

They do have a great sound :-) I like “yacht rock” 😅🤷♀️. But the albums cover speaks clearly to me now.
