His father and brothers are Muslim imams. Is bukele Muslim ? His first name is Nayib because of his Palestinian background. In one of his interviews he said he didn’t have a specific religion.
Correct. To flesh it out more, Nayib professes faith in Jesus and the bible as the word of God. The way he lives his life of faith, though, is not within the church communities of professing Christians. He certainly leans more towards Christianity, while his brothers lean more towards Islam. But not in any adversarial kind of way.
Keep in mind the half Palestinian family grew up in a Christian household (father from Palestine), though his father converted to Islam later in life. This is not unusual, Palestinians are used to a more fluid interaction among the monotheistic faiths, something that was a standard social dynamic before WWI when British Imperial Zionists and associated vested interests started working their butts off to extreme-ify each religious sect and antagonize them against each other.
For the record, I have met and spoken with one of the president's brothers (the one most involved in the administration). Seeing firsthand how libertarian and liberty devoted he is, all I can say is don't expect an Islamic caliphate, nor a Christian fascist regime popping up in El Salvador. They are 100% for the classic liberal values of freedom of religion and freedom of association (minus the bad hombres).
Fair. However I remember when we had a Muslim named president and I thought that was odd but turned the other cheek because he said he was catholic and he was very progressive and talked the big talk with hope and change. They’re only chill until they’re not.
Yeah I'm aware of the Hussein issue, although I see no evidence of a crypto-fundamentalist Islamist in him. His religious beliefs are something else that would allow for a self absorbed, degenerate, deep state puppet leftist .
Just keep in mind that every religious sect gets weaponized for a variety of political and geopolitical purposes. It's all a Great Game most successfully played by British intelligence and their U.S. and Israeli counterparts in the past century. But that Great Game is not an ethos intrinsic to any particular belief system getting caught up in the Game.
Bukele actually understands this, how anything that's in itself harmless or ordinary (whether a religion or a political or social movement) can become a tool of control and instability from outside forces. El Salvador is littered with a history of this kind of meddling, with record amounts of civil bloodshed to show for it.
As as classic statesman, Bukele advocates for principles of a social and cultural "moral framework" (his own terms) that is not incumbent upon favoritism towards a particular religious practice, especially among the monotheistic traditions. He wants his people to thrive in their diversity as much as their national unity. He wants a moral framework maintainted for every component of a national existence, including politics, science, medicine, and finance. This is classic Natural Law theory being put into practice again, like it used to be. It's what allows for peaceful coexistence among citizens who belong to a variety of voluntary associations whether religious or political or whatever. No matter their differences, they have a privilege as well as responsibility to sustain the general welfare while preserving the sanctity of individual liberty. Exactly what the founding U.S. documents laid out.
