A large portion of Israelis aren't Semites, they're descendants of European converts, the Khazars (not that that should make any difference, we don't get to choose who our ancestors are). The Khazars trace their descent from Japheth through Togarmah (not his brother Ashkenaz, as their name would suggest...Masters of Disguise).
