Bitcoin mining does tax the electricity bill tho. And one gets better results with a super-duper gaming computer. (get a second one for the vidya). So I guess it will stimulate the hardware economy too, provided they get over the chip-issue.
BC mining is a sensible thing to do, if one can affford to pay the power bill + one had better do something about that SMART meter before attempting it. The 'providers' have allsorts of backdoors into the SMART-meter to SHUT you down, or report you to the police, for growing indoors or something.
Both those examples have happened in my area - the 'ripple' control deprives people of their hot water arbitrarily, because conserving power on cold days, just when you need hot water; and one fella was welding and sanding his car in the garage and was raided for 'growing' to no avail, because there were no plants, just his car. He was dobbed in by the provider AI.
I listened to an interview Ryan Matta (big Bitcoin guy on Rumble) did with a large Bitcoin mining company (forget his name). This miner said that they have a contract with the local utility company to mine in the off hours. This also saved them money.
