Exodus 21:10: "If he take another wife for himself; her food, her clothing, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish".
Deut 21:15–17 states that a man must award the inheritance due to a first-born son to the son who was actually born first, even if he hates that son's mother and likes another wife more.
Here's a few Patriarchs from the Bible: Esau (Gen 26:34; 28:6-9), Jacob (Gen 29:15-28), Elkanah (1 Samuel 1:1-8), David (1 Samuel 25:39-44; 2 Samuel 3:2-5; 5:13-16), and Solomon (1 Kings 11:1-3)
I could go on but I think you get the idea…
Go back to Genesis- God gave Adam one woman Eve. Noah has 1 wife, each of his sons had 1 wife. We know Jacob wanted just the one wife, Rachel. Isaac had 1 wife. It wasn’t until after the Jews came out of Egypt that this idea of more than 1 wife took hold. Abraham did not take another wife until after Sarah died. Hagar was not a wife, she was a concubine and Abraham only slept with her because Sarah told him so that he could have a son, it wasn’t sanctioned by God.
What about Lilith?
Lilith isn’t in the Bible.
Genuine question, by the way, not a smart-alecky remark. (Not that I'm known for those, or anything...)
Esau is not a patriarch, he gave up his birthright, and definitely did not listen to God.
Plus he was, like, red-headed, and hairy, and stuff. Eww...
