I'm pretty sure they follow the new testament though, so that may be a misunderstanding of their beliefs. the word 'god' is used many time in the Bible to refer to concepts other than the monotheistic JHVH. There is a reward in heaven, and 'god'like powers don't seem to conflict with the idea of JHVH and His only begotten son, Jesus Christ. The Bible still applies. So on behalf of all mormons, that is my issue with treating mormonism and Christianity as mutually exclusive.
Apply the test to Joseph Smith, and even each of the "prophets" and it is pretty clear. Using the Bible to test the book of Mormon, the Bible does not fall short.

Test of a Prophet can be used and seems pretty cut and dry
as in, whether their predictions come true? how does this apply?
