I agree we have a republic. I just can't understand why they are pushing "democracy" so hard.
A democracy is 51% oppressing 49 %.
A constitutional republic protects the minority and is very hard to change,if we elect good honest people.

Because they want to pick the President by popular vote rather than through the Electoral College.
All democracies end in tyranny. Once the majority figures out they can vote themselves benefits at the expense of the minority the country is over.
