1913 - Wilson becomes President and signs Bill to establish the Federal Reserve

WWl ends against bedridden Wilson's wishes.
Apparently Wilson wanted to demonstrate the global influence of the U.S. by presiding at postwar negotiations, but he figured he could do that only if the U.S. were a belligerent. He had offered his services as a mediator, but his prospective allies, the French and British, weren’t interested. As historian Barbara Tuchman reported, “It was not mediation they wanted from America but her great, untapped strength.”

This seems like a very good site (though I don't know anything about the guy who "curated" the information contained in the write-ups). If certain 3-ltr agencies had their hand in this site, I'm sure there are certain obfuscations and omissions, perhaps even fact-twisting claims being made to support a narrative. That being said, it appears to be a good starting point.
I delved just briefly into the first two, survivors, the Adelts, who were apparently journalists who were not favored by the gestapo in their homeland. Another passenger, Edward Douglas, looks interesting also, link below. Another, Colonel Fritz Erdmann, (link below), it's claimed by some, was on board with other German military men to find a saboteur. "... Much has been made over the years of a claim made by author Michael Mooney in his 1972 book The Hindenburg that Erdmann, Witt and Hinkelbein were aboard the ship not as mere observers, but as security officers tasked with finding and stopping a potential saboteur. ...". Interesting.
Anyway, lots of rabbit holes to dive into from this so it may be a good starting point.
