Definitely not. I spent most of my life in NoVA. When I amoved north in the 70s, as a kid, Alexandria/Fairfax was a normal place. Now it’s run by liberal crazies. Changing school names, road names, other insanity.
Oh, yes. NoVA is lost to the point I think we should donate it to Maryland. I grew up east of Richmond and my family was originally from the southern part of the state (and northern NC). Even Richmond is a shell of what it used to be. They have tried to destroy Monument Avenue and hide all of the important history of the area, all in the name of DEI. One of the most egregious images to emerge from all of the chaos of 2020 was this: https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2F0hir2hwvveu61.jpg. This picture still pains me to see as I have so many memories of visiting Monument Avenue as a child.
Watching them dismantle the statue was just painful. The erasing of history. Alexandria removed statue of the confederate soldier pointing towards RVA. Actually IIRC it may have been knocked over by a car and the city refused to put it back up. That was the beginning of de-history process.
You got me by a few years. I graduated from TC Williams in the mid 80s. But yeah, NOVA was basically red, other than Arlington, FC, and Alexandria. But they weren't looney left. Don Beyer then got elected. And Jim Moran from Alexandria was in office - I new some of his kids. Hell, even Alexandria put up Confederate flags on Lee-Jackson day. It was part of history. NOVA is unrecognizable now.
Same. Born and raised in VA and now living in NC. I still love VA even though it's not the same state where I grew up so many years ago.

Disgusting that they wouldn't repair the statue. I hope every monument and statue is put back after the Deep State goes down. That's one of my hopes.
We might of known each other. Hailed from NoVA until I graduated HS in ‘71.
Back then NOVA was all red.
I now live in NC after living in NE for most of my life. Couldn’t wait to move back south
