I have no idea or info on Pompeo's connections with Monsanto, so I cannot draw any conclusions. I do think, however, that Monsanto is about as evil as Blackrock, imo. But that's a mildly uninformed opinion.
Yeah, Pompeo was big time in money from Monsanto and the Koch brothers. I had become so disillusioned with the Republicans being owned by Monsanto and how only Democrats pretended to oppose them that for a while I was prepared to grit my teeth and vote for Bernie. At the time, I only heard of Bernie opposing the TPP, which would have foisted Monsanto upon Japan where I live and allow that corporation to essentially write Japanese laws and force the country to lift its ban on GMO crops on native soil. Then Trump came along and I was relieved to see him infuriating all the right people. Later I found out that Bernie is a hypocrite and just pretends to stand up to Monsanto. Kraft, Coca Cola, and so many other food giants lobby hard to suppress consumer awareness in the USA, and Pompeo was very happy to take Monsanto's money and defend them.
Right? My hope is that he was so compromised by evil that Trump somehow liberated him, and that him asking Trump not to declass the JFK files was his "please Hammer, don't hurt 'em" moment for optics' sake. He could be a good guy whose ties were severed. I dunno. On surface level though, I don't trust him. That's all I can say about this.
I love the skepticism. It's not inappropriate. Personally, even the Monsanto connection (from 10 years back) considered, I'm Q-ish and saying 'Trust Kansas'. But I don't think your position is necessarily unreasonable.
Although lots of msm reported that Pompeo advised or asked DJT not to release all the JFK files, my personal take is that this is kayfabe and show (narrative deployment). Apparently, it was Roger Stone who reported that Pompeo said that to Trump. (?)
I'm very much inclined to believe that the files were not released because of timing. And if indeed Pompeo asked trump to not release them, it would have been because the sting operation was still underway. But I also do not think that DJT would decline to release the files unless he had very good, take down the swamp reasons to do so. Maybe I'm a bit naive in my belief, but that's what it is.
I also think people can change and learn and shift. Perhaps Pompeo's connection to Monsanto was due to limited view and ignorance. I would not think it necessarily means he is corrupt. But I like to err on the side of caution of those I think are genuine in serving the cause, so i guess that's my particular bias.
Thanks for the extra info, Steve.

Wow. Gee, that's not good. Bit of an eye opener. One hopes that perhaps he's had a change of perspective since those days....
