Alaska is stunning, but the seasonal swings are more than dramatic. You wind up living on two different planets, alternating between total daylight and total night, and you need to have the temperament for it. No one would ever confuse it with the Transvaal. They don't have anything like Victoria Falls, but they do have calving glaciers that are more gigantic. The constellations would be completely different. I don't want to quash any curiosity, but please experience it in all seasons before settling on an opinion. Those who settled there would not have it any other way.
