If Joe's' donors back out (as some have already done), wouldn't that effectively end his candidacy in a short period of time? I can see the donors being the deciding factor that would overrule the family's staunch refusal to let Joe remove himself.

My point was that the party can't transfer any of Joe's donations to anyone else, and if his donors back out (as in pledging a certain amount and then not paying it), he's out that $$. I also assume if you donated a large amount and then really threw a fit, the party would refund it to you. That's not a given, though.
It's all a mess, that's for sure!
Yeah I agree - I wasn't trying to break balls, was just curious how the whole Indian giving thing worked in the modern age ...
