Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Thanks for the suggestions. I think it’s coming from switching the menopause supplement. I stopped taking a multi herb and started just black cosh. A side effect is joint pain. Can’t figure anything out on the chills. I know side effects with herbs can be an issue. I normally don’t have issues with herbs. Maybe because this is a hormone herb it’s causing this weird thing. I’m going to stop taking and see what happens. I’m about to get back on estrogen. I’m tired of trying this and that with minimal results.
Gotcha... I've never tried herbs before. Kinda afraid tbh but I know it's been used since ancient times so clearly there are good effects or usefulness and I'd trust natural stuff much more than pills. I'm sure God created herbs for medicinal purposes. I also think acupuncture can help also. I'm not going through menopause yet, in my early 40s, but today I started feeling a lil uncomfortable in my left knee so I freaked out. I took some collagen pills and ordered steamed pork's feet from a Korean restaurant. It's suppose to be filled with collagen. You can also get collagen powder and make jelly with it. What is estrogen for if you don't mind me asking? I also want to learn more about this stuff so I can avoid doctors as I get older.
I got into herbal tea about ten years ago. That gravitated to better quality teas and eventually herbal medicine. I’m not trained professionally, my head is filled with lots of information. Before two years ago you could find great safe information online. Now they bury the information from the experts instead you get college, hospital and medical advice pages. There’s herbal medicine mentioned in the Bible. I can’t point you to certain scriptures, I’ve seen books and post on herbs used in the Bible. I think balm of Gilead is one. I love this one it’s great for pain and sleep. I buy salves from small businesses, herbalist online.
Estrogen replacement is given in pill or patch form by prescription. I had total hysterectomy in 2009, not much choice the endometriosis was really bad. I’ll get a list together of reliable sources you can learn from. Using herbal medicine is different than taking a prescription. Prescription puts a bandaid on the problem. Herbal medicine heals and can take at least six months to know if it’s working. It’s very trial and error. Unlike an RX which is given to everyone with the same condition. You have to figure out what works for you. Also the quality is a concern. Theres some sources that might not be good.
I’ve thought about collagen but haven’t tried it. I’m taking several of Ancestral Bovine Organ supplements. Since I’m eating carnivore I think they are better for me. It’s a long story, experts say plants are toxic. You mentioned oxalates in another comment, I didn’t know about them six months ago. I don’t even use black pepper anymore because of the high amount.
The only herbs I’m currently taking are maca root and a was taking a menopause supplement with several herbs. I might just up the maca root. Hopefully after I’m on carnivore longer the hormonal imbalance will work itself out. It heals your body, the more damage the longer it takes. Doesn’t heal joint or disc damage.
Try arnica cream or salve on your knee.
I’ve ordered from this lady several times. Her herbal salve is very good quality.

Thanks for the info. I'll check out that link tomorrow.
I think if you're on Carnivore diet you're already getting enough iron so the Bovine Organ supplements is not really necessary? I'm on carnivore too and the hubby said I get collagen from steak as well, but I think it's not enough for me because women 40+ somehow always get knee problems as we're not producing as much collagen anymore. So I think it's super important we get that collagen supplement.
