Foreign invader is a criminal just by being here. I do NOT believe reparations of any kind are owed when a criminal is stopped in the act of committing another crime. Maybe the rancher should sue the family of the criminal for his actions?

Right, but lets say an American rapes an illegal. What's that legal process like?
Rape is illegal. Rape isn't "self defense" nor is it required to prevent a crime of any kind. Rapist should be charged and prosecuted.
