Well yeah, except they will chicken-shit out after a day or so and then go around agreeing with the media and blaming each other for the shutdown.

Wouldn't work this time anyways, with the Dems final hope for a steal on the line. The shutdown bluff might have worked in the past but these bastards always folded.
