That’s very sad, if true. We’ve been watching a lot of the Korean made shows (many with subtitles) on Netflix bc they are so very well made. I prefer the love stories for which there are many. No sex, no gays or trans, nor cursing and it reminds me of the movies of the fifties.
Exactly. Everything you said. We've been watching mainly Korean shows as well.. Well made, polite, family type culture, warm, righteous, no sex, lgbtqxyz, liberal cringe stuff. Our fave is Hometown Cha
My favorite korean drama..... alchemy of souls.... GREAT LOVE STORY! Also a very interesting fantasy storyline i fell in love with myself. I'm a dude and i can appreciate a good love story!
When we had Netflix, my DH and I loved watching Korean cop shows, Joseon Dynasty historical drama/comedies and RomComs. The subtitles didn't bother us a bit. We actually learned some Korean words. The shows were well-written, had very attractive, likable characters and entertained without overt sex (save normal tensions/interactions between male and female) and, yes, no flaming gay/trans, DEI stuff shoved down your throat. Lots of tropes specific to each genre formula, but well-done and not eye-rolling as is the case with most American-made garbage.

One reason I tend to watch old movies. Way better than the crap they make now.
