Started life with a license to teach it. Lots of years ago so don't ask me to repeat the rule, but it stuck. According to today's definitions I received an old time, inferior education.

Basically, fewer applies to things that can be counted one by one. Less applies to general things, i.e., fewer pounds means less weight.
