No, he wasn't. He was facing in the direction of the shooter, which was off to his right, when he was facing the podium.

I stand corrected. My bad. Still wondering if that's really a bullet hole in his jacket, though. When the shots are fired, I couldn't see him thrown backwards at all, and his jacket didn't seem to be moving as if struck. I guess we'll know soon...

It does look like a hole, but maybe not a bullet hole. Awful big for a .22 or .223.
