I watched movies with my kid back in the day when she came home from college and noted she never flinched during any violent scenes of movies we happened to see in some shoot em up movies.
Of course both my hubby and I were always attempting to cover our faces or turn away.
I once asked her why it didn’t bother her. She told me she knew it wasn’t real. Well we knew that, too, yet we couldn’t even watch.
So I often wondered how desensitized to violence our kids had become from watching TV and videos or even violent video games.
FWIW my kid is now 40 and we’re in our seventies. So this had to be back in the early 200’s when she was a college student.

I can watch plenty of violent shit in movies and video games, but real life stuff gives me the same reaction you had. Can't even bear to look.
