The kid had not qualified for some rifle association, but then he had some experience with a local gun club.
We don't know if he was even aiming for the head. A body shot going for center of mass, from a distance would be the standard approach, the head is just too much movement and margin of error. With the amount of shots popped off, the outcome we saw is possible with the distance and the kid's (limited) experience.
Was there some location further back with another shooter who knew his stuff? He still missed because Trump's head movement was too much at that moment. I don't know what's behind that building, so it's hard to say if there was potential for the "second shooter" being out of view but having the exact same line of sight as the kid.
This would also mean the USSS counter snipers NEVER had visual confirmation the kid ever opened fire. So that scenario ends up becoming unreasonably complicated to cover up, if the patsy was actually in view during fire with witnesses he never actually fired.
