Suggesting to stop an assassination attempt is not offensive violence.

It is lawful to defend yourself from immediate threats.

It is lawful to defend others from immediate threats.

There are considerations on how far you can go under what circumstances that are worth being aware of for anyone who wants to stay out of legal trouble. A good concealed carry class is recommended to learn applicable laws.
