My Greyhound was Named Suzy, her Racing name was Black Eyed Susan. Very rare for racing name being the same as pet name. My house I'd made the carport into a third bedroom, the whole end was like a 10 ft wide closet but only 2 feet deep. She stayed in there when I wasn't at home sleeping on my dirty clothes. Typically racing Kennels let the dogs out into boys in one girls in the other exercise yards for about 20 min. each time. They live their whole lives mostly crated, they don't mind. Of coarse Suzy had the run of the house, but she liked hanging out in the closet.
Well anyways, she never had an accident in the house, and I worked long days. I'd get home and try and turn her out in the back yard, but sometimes she woud escape via front door or if gate was left open for some reason. Greyhounds run fast and are supposedly third fastest runner on earth. A 29.XX second 5/16ths of a mile is normally where the track record would be.
When Suzy got lose she would run way down the street and back and forth. I'd have to coax her with lunch meat to get her back in. BTW they aren't legally allowed to eat dog in the Philippines, but the fine was small back then and rarely enforced. They ate Mommy Dog (What I called her) because she was female and going into heat.
I moved away, what could I do, they are my wife's relatives... I have to remain friends, but I did move away and quit feeding the lazy bums.
I ended up giving her away after a few years, a fella down the street had another Greyhound and kids, it was a better life for Suzy. Greyhounds start racing around 1.5 years, and are too slow by 4 or so. They put them down.
I also gave my Chow Chow to my best friend, he rented a room from me then bought my house. I'd moved to a no pet condo. He was a volunteer at the zoo, taking animals to schools and various events to teach people about animals. Who better to give her to? She ignored him when I visited, I saved her from a crate life too! Also gave away the Pit Bull-Greyhound Mix, I was working 70-90 hours a week and no one else to take him out. Gave him away to a redneck with a trailer on 5 fenced in anchors. LOL
Yeah, I'd like a dog or cat, but my wife isn't keen on either. A dog is really more loyal than a human, while a cat is low ain't. You can leave cats with food, water, and lots of litter and they are ok. A dog left alone is miserable.

I would have exploded. Yes, moving away is good.
Suzy sounds like such a good girl. It's nice to have a good dog.

Some can have dogs. I work from home so they are well taken care of.
