I know DRS is done at Odyssey, but can anyone explain the procedure?
My shares are currently with E*Trade but would like to get the DRS going. I keep forgetting to look into it at home on my computer, but here I am at work looking into it on my phone again. I hate doing stuff on my phone lol
Haven’t drs’d DJT yet but have drs’d GME. Call your broker, I use Fidelity, and just tell them you want to direct register your shares and they transfer them for you. If they say there’s a charge, change companies. Fidelity doesn’t charge.
I DRS'd my GME from E*Trade and was able to request the transfer all online.
I've tried calling them before, tremendous hold time. Although that was prior to them being bought by Morgan Stanley, or whomever bought them, I doubt that's changed.
Couldn't hurt to try though, nothing much to do at work this morning.
Thanks, RIB. Which form did you have to complete? I searched for "direct register shares" on eTrade and got about 50 results. The closest one appears to be "Certificate transfer request form". It appears the form must be printed, signed, and mailed/emailed.
I did end up calling them, and surprisingly only sat on hold maybe a minute, and was told to DRS I'd have to call to initiate.
I confirmed my account was a cash account and not margin and that in theory my shares can't be lent out. My limited funds are needed elsewhere ATM but will get them DRS'd soon.
I've DRS'd both my GME and DJT. Webull made it very difficult. I printed the forms, filled out, then scanned and uploaded to the Webull message section with my signature.
Oddly enough, i haven't received snail mail confirmation from either Odyssey or Computershare as of yet
You can find forms for DRSing outside of your broker on the internet.
Computershare took about a month for me, and OdysseyTrust does not automatically send one out. You have to call them to create your account.
I also recommend transferring to fidelity first as they make it so much easier to drs, compared to other platforms.
Whatever broker you’re using, transfer your shares to fidelity as I believe (correct me if I’m wrong) its the easiest platform to drs from
In fidelity, when you call and you’re at the chat prompt or you use their chat bot, just say “DRS”, the chat bot will walk you through it, on the phone just wait to be transferred.
After it’s done, wait a week. OdysseyTrust does not automatically send out statements like computershare does so you’ll have to call them up to create your online account.
