There’s a quite good alternative to Microsoft Office called LibreOffice that comes with every Linux operating system distribution (you don’t have to install it but it’s very available and free).

What about my golf simulator programs that only had downloads for Apple or Windows. Would those work?
Some of them will work with Wine, or they will work with a virtual machine. Not the most difficult thing to set up but not the most basic thing for a casual user.
