There were moments I didn't like and felt were a bit much, but I can see why they did it this way. They're trying to attract new people to the movement, and now is the perfect time to do it. They had to put on a big show to grab attention.
Imagine how the bright lights, music, and celebratory festival vibe of the RNC are going to contrast with the doom, gloom, chaos, and rage of the DNC in a few weeks. Who on earth wants to get behind THAT mess?

Maybe I'm a big softie, but I got teary eyed reading this. I had a similar path as well with finding religion through all this.
