The farmers wrote the constitution in 1787, 9 of the 13 states ratified it 1788, it went into effect 1789. The united states declared independence in 1776. That’s 11 years before the idea of the constitution and 13 years before the constitution became effective. In the years before the adoption of the constitution all citizens became US citizens no application for citizenship no oath of allegiance nothing simply for being a citizen of that colony before declaration of independence.
citizenship back then was obtained two ways:
Naturalization process was open to any free white person with two years of residency and good conduct. The person would go to any court of record files declaration of intention “first papers” then three years later files petition for naturalization “second papers”.
When the farmers wrote the constitution they put the natural born condition “birthright citizens” to protect the nation from foreign influence of naturalized citizens mentioned above.
Also don’t forget when the farmers adopted the constitution it was ONLY free white men who became citizens until the 14th amendment 1868 (79 years later).
Your pizza example is flawed, pizza can be square or rectangle shaped it’s called “Sicilian pizza”. Pizza marinara is also a pizza without cheese.
They are all pizza from Italy that’s something not every 2 year old knows.
White pies are usually made with ricotta cheese and no sauce.
Sfincione is tomato sauce topped with grated cheese and breadcrumbs. It's good. Some folks add onion and anchovy.
I took some friends out for Grandma Pizza the other day and they all loved it. It's a style that started on Long Island and I think it will catch on. Square pie, but thinner than a Sicilian. The place I like does a thick cooked tomato sauce on a cracker thin crust.
Admittingly, I considered different shaped Pizzas when typing my reply, but hoped for the sake of argument that I would not encounter some pedant who would hold me to an exact, no holes wording.
So now that I know your name, I am putting you in my pedant list.
It’s your choice and that’s the beauty of our 1st amendment, I hope I type this in time before I get on that list.
Did you know that the first 9 presidents were not natural born citizens? They were all born in British America before the independence in 1776 and WAY before the constitution was adopted?
did you also know President Donald J Trump is just like Obama? One of his parents wasn’t a natural born citizen???
Obamas legitimacy is questioned for not being born on US soil aka Natural Born.
Both presidents have at least one immigrant parent.
President Donald J Trump’s mother was NOT a natural born citizen.
Born in Scotland 1912 migrated to the USA in 1930 married Fred Trump 1936 became NATURALIZED US citizen in 1942 that’s 4 years before our president’s birth.
Are you sure you want to insist on Presidents parents must BOTH be natural born citizens?
President Donald Trump is a natural born citizen because he was born on US soil his mother is not natural born.
Trump's parents don't have to have been natural born. Trump is natural born by your own description. Obama and Harris are not. So yes we should push this matter if necessary. Regardless of the ultimate court ruling regarding a challenge to Harris eligibility, there's a strong likelihood that an injunction could be granted while the court figures it out, in which case the SOTH would likely serve in the role of acting president and given the time required for the trial and any appeals, it's not unreasonable to assume the SOTH would act until a new president is sworn in in 2025
Yes, but it was actually the first 7 presidents, not nine. George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, and Andrew Jackson.
Martin Van Buren, our eighth president, was born at Kinderhook, New York on December 5, 1782, six years and five months after the Declaration of Independence. Unlike his seven predecessors, he was not just a “citizen,” he was a “natural born” citizen… the first president, at least thirty-five years of age, who was born to US citizen parents after July 4, 1776.
I know you knew this, and just made a typo, and it's pissing you off to high heaven lol.
Trumps mother was not a Natural Born Citizen:
I said nothing about a Natural Born Citizen being a person whose parents were also Natural Born Citizens. That a person be a Natural Born Citizen only required that that person's parents be Citizens. And this consideration of parentage was Paternal, not Maternal.
Under natural law in late eighteenth-century Europe and America: the father’s blood determined the political allegiance of free persons at birth; the mother was legally irrelevant.
The Supreme Court of the United States has never applied the term “natural born citizen” to any other category than “those born in the country of parents who are citizens thereof”.
