What I am wondering is HOW/WHERE did she get the English last name of Harris since this is her maiden name? Do Jamaican's carry that name?
There is a brand of industrial sliced white bread carrying that name in France, maybe it’s her toasted nickname?🤭💐
I don't know, but Vinis' my best friends mother maiden name was Harris. I know a lot of people with that last name and it is of English origin if I'm not mistaken.
Yes Anglo influence in the West Indian Islands. The West Indian cricket team of the 70s and 80s were formidable opponents for us here in Oz. Surnames such as Richards, Haynes, Greenidge, Garner, Holding, Lloyd, Roberts, Marshall, Ambrose etc were feared, respected, heckled, by many Aussie crowds. (All black men, no doubt of West African descent.)
Thanks. I knew that name had to have came from somewhere other than Jamaica because it is too popular of a name here in the states. So the English must have loved passing that surname on to different countries.
Jamaica is in the Commonwealth so maybe she got that name from a Limey.🤭💐
Could have.
8 of the top 10 most common last names in Jamaica are of British origin. You would probably be amazed at how many black people in the US have the last names Brown, Green, or Washington.
So true. Thanks.
Jamaica was an English and Spanish colony. A lot of British names down there. Also many British first names like ‘Barrington’
Thanks.
