They do this all the time, it's called 'smurfing'. And no I don't know why
The republicans do it too.
Once you donate to a party, they have all the info they need use your identity to make many small donations to take every name they have up to the max dollar amount allowed. To fill their coffers with money from their rich donors who are already maxed on donations.
Since they're using someone else's money and only attaching another persons name it's easy to miss. It's identity theft, but since no receipts are sent back the people never know their names are being used this way.
Makes sense. Lol.
