Could it simply be that they are throwing their resources at her because she will actually be their nominee? They MUST win after all. For them to steal it she has to raise lots of money, to help justify the win. LOOK HOW MUCH SHE RAISED! If they believe they can steal it for her, and she's nothing but a puppet anyway, why wouldn't she be their nominee?
