Also would have thought cops could deal with offenders in much more effective manner given their martial arts type training, rather than resorting kicking someone in the head.
Martial Arts? Very few departments train in martial arts. There is usually some basic hand-2-hand training (different holds and restraining moves) in the academy, but it isn't like LEO's are trained for serious hand-2-hand combat.
