Let me preface this by saying I believe in god, but I don't like organized religion, I enjoy studying all religions, so Im not for or any certain one. I don't mean to offend anyone Im just trying to square the circle as we all are who study the bible/religious texts.
As for Catholicism, There are a several instances that make me believe the Catholic Church was evil from its conception:
Rev. 22:16 - Jesus claims he comes from the bloodline of The Morning Star (Lucifer). Is Lucifer good or evil?
Mathew 16:23 / Mark 8:33 - Peter, the first Pope is literally called Satan, by Jesus. The upside down cross is a symbol for both Peter and Satan.
John 666 - All but 12 disciples leave Jesus after he tells them to eat his flesh and drink his blood.
Micah 3 - The Old Testament forbids eating of (human) flesh.
I prefer the Gnostic Jesus over the New Testament Jesus. The NT seems more corrupt, the Catholic Church, demonized and killed the Gnostics and tried to eradicate their texts/speech, sound familiar?
The Catholic Church persecuted anybody who wouldn't submit to the Pope, regardless of their reasoning. They went after Jews, pagans, gnostics, true believers in Jesus, it didn't matter so long as they resisted the papal throne. Every pope is the anti-christ.
I believe in Jesus. I disagree with the "gnostic Jesus" stuff but also acknowledge that his teachings, as well as most of the Old Testament, were only truly understood via the spirit. The letter, or literal meaning, often was purposefully written in a way to trick those who approached it from a wicked, carnal starting point.
"Deceiving and being deceived"
"At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes."

Im not completely against the NT. I find knowledge there, I just prefer the Gnostic one.
I'm praying that you get the revelation of the truth of who Jesus is, and you can't stop me! :p
