God's mercy is endless & even the greatest of sinners will get some mercy. God loves all his children so much that even the worst ones won't be left to suffer forever. Redemption is a door open to all of us.
Yes, but the justice (and the mercy) that God metes out are different to the justice and mercy that men must mete out.
In the spiritual realm, God's mercy is great, but also God must exercise accountability. It's not punishment; it's unavoidable consequences of one's choices. (If one chooses to jump off a cliff, gravity will hurt you).
On Earth, it is put in to our own hands, to hold each other accountable and implement some system of justice. This is the basis of common law, on which the US constitution is founded.
All that said, i def agree with you that the Father will not leave even the worse ones to suffer forever.
Hell is real and the Father makes it clear that no one comes to Him but through Jesus. And those who don't come to Jesus, go to Hell and suffer forever.
Some subscribe to this doctrine, and their ears are closed to anything in Jesus' own teachings that contradict it.
And yet, Paul himself declared that his own understanding of God and Christ are limited, and looked forward to a future time when all believers would understand Christ in the same way that Christ understands us.
In the spiritual realm, there is no such thing as time. Every moment is eternity. But some folks engage with (and can only understand) the material world aspect of time by projecting on the spiritual realms. But resurrection is real, and happens for those who have departed as well as those alive now.
Anyone who believes that God would condemn his own children to hell "forever" has no grasp of the heart of the Father. They are like children who think they understand everything their Father does, and interprets their Father through their own limited eyes.
To truly experience God's heart, one has to become so deeply entwined with Jesus that Jesus own heart becomes a real, burning part of one's daily experience. No one is 'saved' by doctrine, but only by deep and abiding unity with Christ, and that involves experiencing the very same heart that Jesus has.
Too many espouse doctrines they intellectually think are true but without any real love behind them. Paul and Jesus himself warned us against this time and time and time again. Blessed is he who hears.
