This was originally just a comment on another post, and because I will never doxx here, I am reaching out in order to do my own research.
Is there any way to find out if a (regular, not famous) person is a mason?
I'm having so much trouble at work. I work at the church where I am a member.
The Pastor came here 1-1/2 years ago and single-handedly changed the structure of the organization so that only he is in control.
I began work 3 months ago as the finance secretary, but almost immediately regretted taking the job. I am the only employee other than the Pastor. I have seen very questionable unethical things, but no concrete proof of illegal actions. Still, I have reported my concerns to others on the finance committee, personnel committee and the deacons but nothing happened. (They are all the same 4 people: the pastor late 60's, 1 women in her 80s and 2 men in their late 70s)
The Pastor is constantly gaslighting me, then buys me lunch or a donut, then talks down to me.
My father (said he) was a 33rd degree Mason - father did the same things to me. This Pastor treats me the same way my father did - back and forth from treating me so badly - then tells me I'm a compassionate, intuitive, and hard-worker.
I am not allowed to talk to anyone except him when I am offended by things like the pornography Group that the church's facebook page joined. I "unjoined" it and it got "rejoined"
I took sick leave because I was covered in hives from nerves. I advised him I was getting an attorney and He texted me "So much for loving your church, and loving the Lord. So sad."
I am 61 years old - now the old terrible dreams from my childhood molestation have returned. I have reported my concerns to the national conference, the state conference and the local bank. I have removed myself to administrative leave and just got a letter asking for my resignation.
I am devastated I wet the bed almost every night. I HAVE located a christian counselor and I am on the 3rd read through Chuck Degroate's "When Narcisism Comes To Church"
This here - GAW - is my only "go to" when I need input and quickly. I don't necessarily need anything other than research. I have good resources in the emotional arena. and today I will tender my involuntary resignation.
I have to find out if this man is a mason. He is too wealthy otherwise. Pastors are never this wealthy (millions)
There is no official way to find out if someone is mason unless you are well versed in their handshakes and symbolisms, however, your instinct is a powerful thing. Esp. sicne your father is a mason and you have experienced how he treats you, give yourself the benefit of doubt and assume he is a mason. Regardless, assume he is an ahole, and that too a very powerful ahole.
If you continue working here, your life will become more and more miserable and you will find yourself at one point being unable to leave for whatever reason, or worse.
You should make your exit plan. Dont make your unhappiness obvious. Come up with a good cover story as to why you want to leave. The best approach would be to leave without ruffling feathers. This is important, esp if he is a mason or an abuser of any kind - you dont want to become his target.
Some of the lodges have member lists accessible online, so there's that possibility.
