Ive never understood this parody of French courage (no doubt its hilarious though).
Napolean marched to the gates of Moscow and it took the entirety of Europe, overextended supply lines (arrogance) and the Russian winter to defeat him. The French Navy saved the Revolution. After 100 years of British oppression the French freed themselves.
Many armies were overcome by Hitlers blitzkrieg. The Germans also reached the gates of Moscow. The French werent alone in the retreat to Dunkirk, a nearly 300,000 strong British army joined them (with only 192,000 escaping across the channel, along with 140,000 French).
The Free French saved the Brits asses at the Battle of Bir Hacheim in North Africa in 1942. Without their courage, holding out against overwhelming German and Italian armor while getting no support, the Germans would have pushed the British all the way back to Alexandria. This was THE pivotal battle in the North Africa campaign. It allowed the British to reorganize and resupply to push Rommel back into northern Tunisia.
You can point to the Franco Prussian war but that wasnt a lack of courage but of competency of their leaders and political chaos caused by leftists.
So really this view of French courage seems to me to be a revisionist viewpoint of Anglo American supremacy that is not backed up by historical fact.
