Your pc runs flawlessly on Linux. Depending on the age of your pc, you might want to try a dressed down version:
Antix. https://antixlinux.com/ (warning: sysvinit) SLitaz: https://www.slitaz.org/en/ Puppy: https://puppylinux-woof-ce.github.io/
Or go Full blown: MXlinux on systemd or sysvinit. https://mxlinux.org/
systemd or sysvinit/runit
The difference is very basic and has to do with the first step in the booting process. There is a host of discussion going on, and the basics of that discussion comes down to ideology. They all get the job done. in the end effect, it influences some of the commands on the CLI, but as most users are not CLI users but graphical interface users (GUI) it does not make a lot of difference. Systemd is often a bit slower. So, if you are running a limited resource pc, an old pc, then sysvinit/ runit may be more appropriate.
Keep in mind, though, that some packages or appimages require systemd. Like Lokinet, or Mullvad VPN. But of course, in the latter case, openvpn always works, and on their website there is a HOWTO.
Just remember: Linux is about your journey.
Process:
PHONE
Once you have that up and running, you could install adb-platform-tools, hook up your phone, and perform root and free your bootloader, and install custom rom for android.
Watch a video online on YT (of course via a front end like piped.video) and learn about rooting your phone before attempting to. Otherwise, find your phone on XDA-developers and learn about the rooting and installation process.
APPLE
IF you are Apple, Macbooks and pc's can be altered with a linux installation, see Process. Though, the OS is basically a free BSD (UNIX) variant, it is a blackbox. Certain commands may or may not work, So, replacement is needed.
For i-phones, I would not touch them. But hé, if you feel adventurous, by all means, have a go at it.
Thanks for the information fren! You just rebooted my memory... I did install Linux on a spare laptop I had laying around years ago I dont recall which version of Linux it was.
What I did not like was the office program. Excel is superior in its commands, etc. However, for simple tasks Linux office libre is much better than Google office crap.
THanks!
Give WPS a spin. There is no VB script, but it is pretty good. Though, when it comes to programming, Calligra is your friend. I have to say: it is quite bare, so you would have to code the stuff you need yourself.
Libre/Open office is pretty good, has programming options and plugins. But certain things are absolutely missing. I haven't tried the named ranges, though.
Personally, I use Freeoffice from the Mxlinux package repository, as it has a functioning link to database-use when using word / excel type documents.
Tried the same with Open Office and Libreoffice, but it is pretty bad. The Oracle bridge crashes.
WPS is quite interesting, as it works very well with more difficult formulas.
It is all a matter of giving it a spin, and checking what works for you.
yes, it depends on what its being used for and if there's a need to share a workbook. If just browsing the internet, Linux cant be beat for a free program.
Thanks again for the information !
If it is about online collaboration, consider: only office.
That said: sharing a sheet is easy enough including version tracing, and can perfectly be done in the cloud without resorting to big tech.
