Theologically anyone that is not in Christ is an open rebellion against their Creator. They are children of wrath as scripture puts it. They want to be separated from God. They hate God.
This is the natural state of man until God calls you and you answer the call.
God, in his grace, holds back our rebellious and sinful nature and desires from the full state of our nature / rebellion. Once someone goes to hell God's grace is completely removed. They cannot choose "good" or love or have any desire for obedience to and fellowship with God.
Basically you become lost with no desire to be found by the one you hate.

There is an East African myth that says all newborns are stabbed by Satan, this why they cry and how Satan controls them until they find Christ.
