I had a few of these books (probably even have one or two now) but they were very disappointing. They were written for people who have never heard about anything supernatural or paranormal.
If you are into that sort of thing but you want something more advanced without being too in depth I recommend a British series called "Mysteries of Mind Space and Time". It touches upon more subjects than the Time Life Mysteries of the Unknown and it doesn't talk down to the reader like they are ignorant novices.
I just checked eBay and there are multiple sellers selling the whole 26-book collection for under $100.
