First, the cops are wrong in how they approached and handled this. No doubt. They deserve to be fired.
Second... people... we know that some cops are assholes. So if you want to avoid being treated liked this, just answer their questions and stop spewing "my rights".
For all you whiners who want to say I'm full of shit, you need to understand the context. Those cops were taking him down the moment they pulled up. To poke them (as in poking the bear) is just plain stupid. If you know you haven't done anything wrong, and if you want to avoid this kind of bullshit, just be compliant. FFS, big brother has all your info anyway, so getting all uppity and causing the cops to have to save face is stupid, especially in front of your child. I mean why not just say, "My name is XYZ, I live about 8 blocks from here at 123 Street. I've lived there about 4 years. We walk in the morning because we enjoy walks before it gets too hot. Do you need us to ride in your car to my house so I can get my ID?"
Remember--asshole cops have their mind made up already, and they have to save face because they're infantile.
That being said, this video will have those cops on leave, if not fired, as they should be. They would have been fired or at least held accountable even if this Dad simply complied.
Just explain how standing up for his rights at that moment worked out well? And, can you not think of a different way and time he could have followed up and broguht a can of legal whoopass on those guys (and spare his son the trauma)?

That is literally the worst advice I've ever heard. If you don't stand up for your rights, you won't f****** have any idiot.
Standing up for your rights is not limited to a point in time. Groww up.
If when your rights are being deprived is not the time to stand for them, then when exactly? A point in time? That's your argument?
