the fake poll numbers are for two reasons.

First, to sway weak-minded people who just want to follow the "in crowd"... who knows, they might convince a few nitwits that the Camel is actually popular.

Second and more importantly, so that in future generations they can write history books that cite these poll numbers to paint a picture that the Camel's victory was totally expected in the weeks leading up to the election, that any oldtimers stories the kids have heard that Trump was more popular don't stand up to the 'primary sources'.
