It’s a nice sentiment, to which I agree, but where and how did things go off the rail, and what do we do about that, if anything, once we put the train back on the track to keep it from coming off again?

It isn’t possible to get to a place without having walked the course to get there. If you are in the wrong spot, at some point you made a wrong turn.
