I'v ebeen meaning to create a separate post about this, but....
First off, I'm really sorry to hear of your health challenges. I hope and pray you recover. completely and quickly, fren. 🐸🙏🐸☦️☦️☦️
That said: look into a local independent concierge doctor! I was referred to one by my best friend a few years ago and absolutely completely love it. I get a FAR higher level of care because they actually know me and care about me, and doing business with them is like doing business with any other small business with excellent customer service.
No bureaucracy, no enormous hospital with a giant parking structure; no phone trees, no stupid BS red tape at all.
Just curious on how much you pay for concierge service. It's no where close to affordable where I live and was wondering if different areas of the country are much cheaper for that.
About $2k / year.
Includes basically unlimited care / visits; phone; in person; whatever I need.
Obviously does not include any blood tests or similar, prescriptions, etc.
Best damn money I've spent in a long time!
ETA:
Again, I look at the big picture;
Consider when working with a huge HMO / PPO / hospital like Kaiser, sutter, etc:
The friction & dread involved in even trying to make a dr. appt; it's endless bureaucracy, red tape; they are booked out months & months in advance;
When you actually GO to your doctor, they're usually at an enormous hospital with a paid parking lot; you pay to park & have to hike in like 2 miles. The walk doesn't bother me at all; it's the TIME wasted.
There's always a copay
You always end up waiting forever for the dr; either in the waiting room and/or again in the patient room.
By the time you add up ALL those fees & most importantly, MY TIME, I come out way ahead.
Plus; going to my dr. is almost FUN because it's so EASY!
