Article 14(1) of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights states:
AI output is a product of its input, as processed by a very complicated set of steps whose effectiveness is not simple to measure. Putting a machine on the bench would raise huge and continuous questions of competence. Who among us would accept a guilty verdict from an AI?
The most I could see would be the attorneys on both sides using AI to form better arguments and surface helpful information, basically automated research assistance that would still need to be cross-checked.
UUUUUHHH EVERYONE>...Let's put the AI crap to bed right now...these malcontents are going to be tried in a court of law with REAL PEOPLE...PDJT HAS TO SHOW THE WORLD WHAT HAPPENS WHEN OTHERS OVERTHROW A GOVERNMENT...esp. here in the United States...
The DEFENSE teams are going to be doing a yeoman's job trying to keep these people out of the DEATH PENALTY OR LIFE IMPRISONMENT, BUT, make NO mistake, once they hit GITMO, they are NOT coming back to the United States of America!!!!
I think you're right. At the very least there would have to be a human checks and balances process. But attorney's using AI to navigate case history would be something I would want from my attorney.
