Paintings, photographs, sculpture are fine, these aren't for the purpose of worship. Idolatry was defined in pretty specific terms. No real Catholic, Orthodox or Christian worships the image itself, everyone recognizes it's just an image. And portraits of the saints or holy figures, photos of them or any prelate, aren't worshipped either. The invocations are clear, they ask the angels and saints to pray for us.
