Also, please be vigilant and look out for SCAM websites that might also appear to be doing the safety-check but are, in fact, mischievously collecting your info!!!
Epoch Times’ site was pay-walled for me so, I didn’t look at the article and sites. They are likely legit. This is a warning about other sites that might not be…
Just a reminder to be cautious with any of these sites.
There are sure to be a bunch of fake ones popping up to take advantage of people’s concerns.
Whenever one of these breaches occurs, I know I should check to see if my info was compromised but I'm always reluctant to do so (even now) because which sites are legit and which aren't? And if they are legit, who's to say they won't be compromised soon?
In 2008, all you needed to give to request a new SSN card was an address and a name.
That was open to fraud and addressed. So you need to give them a birth year instead now.
Pretty sure a site that asks for anything rather that just presenting the data they have with filters is gonna be a scam. If they already have the SSN and name, giving the birth year let’s them request a new one.
Who might want SSN cards for some election?
This info may not be correct anymore, but I’d definitely double check it.

Who secures the supposed securers??
Maddening.
I went to site. It only ask me for Firstname, Lastname, State, and Birth year. That in my view is not very intrusive.
If it had as me to actually input my SSN, or any other data, I would have been more suspicious.

Ah, OK. I remember doing it once before when there was a breach years ago (can't remember which one) and it did ask for ss#. Thx for the info!
I'm on there with three different addresses of places I've lived... Am I worried ? Nah, all our information is out there to begin with..
