The New York Times reported that when applying for a White House fellowship in 2006, Moore claimed in writing that he was a recipient of the medal.

Whatever happened with the bridge that was hit, accidentally on purpose, closing a major east coast port and diverting a main highway thru the area? Has the incident been investigated? Has the wreckage been removed? Is it being rebuilt? Crickets…I’m sure this stooge will keep schtum…

Wreckage removed. Ship being temp repaired in Norfolk. They will take to Asia for perm repair. There's a podcast called "What's Going on With Shipping" by Sal Mercagliano that covered the aftermath.
