It's possible the deep state was able to deactivate (aka kill the one who would release info or something) and stopped the Deadman switch from activating.

Or he's alive still and in safe hands... Who knows

Edit: As of last September his body was still in a Spanish morgue. 🤔

His wife started a petition to have his body released. Nothing ever came of it, as far as I am aware.
