Hm, and there are headlines about Congress maybe attaching the SAVE Act to the spending bill that has to pass by end of September or else the .gov shuts down.
1 day is bad, but 10 days would put a lot of folks in the colder regions at risk if this really happens in November. I have enough gasoline to run my generator (to power the furnace and well pump) off and on for a couple days, but I'd have to siphon from the cars for any longer than that.
10 days in November without electricity would be fine (I live in Maine and lived an entire winter without Electricity). Just bundle up, wear many layers and use blankets. Oh and keep the windows closed and the drapes drawn. A couple candles increases temps.
Glad that you'll be able to manage like me. I'm also in New England but not quite as far north as you. Years ago when we had that freak ice storm that knocked all the trees and power lines down, folks were stealing the generators they could hear running in the neighborhoods.
Democrat cities only please ;)

Not many folks have home generators.

Stay safe Fren!
You can take the chill off, with a Coleman lantern. Just crack a window, to reduce the CO concentration.
