We've known this for years now. Once upon a time, you used to be able to disable your microphone and it wouldn't work, even if you tried to make a call. That was in the days before smart phones. Since 2010, that feature has been removed.
So yeah, when the NSA says they have it all, they do in fact mean E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G!
Edit: also, turn your phones off tonight before bed, set your alarm clock to 2 a.m., and watch what your phone does between 2:30-3.
I use a crappy rechargeable speaker and I had to fight with my iPhone over volume with the phone turning the volume down or even crashing my app. Seems my I-Phone thinks the speaker is a pair of earbuds. I eventually outwitted it, by turning off the feature after digging through the maze of settings. Kek
