DRS your shares !
Please explain the benefit, as I don't know much about DRS. I think it is the process of fully controlling shares, independently of a brokerage . . . Could be way off.
I bought and hold my shares with Fidelity. Any insight into the process to DRS? Thank you, fren
If your broker holds your shares, they aren't actually there. They lend your shares out. The day they cannot find shares for you to sell, you'll miss moass because they played hot potato with a couple shares between millions of people.
If you DRS it means the shares are LOCKED DOWN with your name on them, and they aren't just IOUs from a broker, they are in cold hard storage ready for you to do as you please with.
It's like owning paper gold, vs having physical gold in your safe. Which one do you trust more? The cold hard metal? Or an IOU from a shady broker
How long does it take to DRS?
Eh it varies , but maybe a week or two depending on how fast you get mail. Better to start the process now, than to wait, and possibly miss moass because your broker couldn't locate shares when shorts are desperately trying to find them too.
